I'm going to step out on a limb here and say that I go to one of the most culturally rich churches in my area. We have African Americans, Latinos from all over Central and South America, Indians, Philippinos, Koreans, Chinese, etc. in our church. Cultures abound in the variety of people, languages, food, and clothing. So I've been thinking about my culture recently. Do I have any?
Looking around at the beautiful skin tones and rich clothing, my first thought was no. I am just a boring white person who only wishes that I had a culture. But that thought always offended me as well. YES I have culture! Don't I?
This morning I was standing there thinking about what makes my culture unique. What makes us different. Of course a defining characteristic of America is that it is a melting pot of different cultures. But then I really got to thinking and I realized that there are so many things which are unique. Here are a few (and feel free to chime in your own)
