I was talking to a good friend yesterday and they said something that really struck me: freaking stand in the gap! That phrase just screams passion and dedication. Do I feel so strongly about Jesus and seeing His name lifted high that I am willing to stand in the gap and intercede with everything I have? Is my desire to see others set free and live in the life that God intended for them so strong that I am willing to do what it takes and pray for them to reach that place?
There are times in worship when I have been frustrated with where others are and have wished that they would just understand what Christ has done for them and not be silent. I have looked around and wished that they would stop standing there and staring like they were bored, jump to their feet, and sing out the praises that God is worthy of. This past week, however, I learned something more valuable than being frustrated: interceding. When you intercede for freedom and freaking stand in the gap for others, you can not only see God move but also get out of the way and let Him move. And instead of constantly being frustrated with where others are, we need to learn to intercede for them to rise up to a place of maturity in Christ and learning to love others above themselves.
Understand, I'm not just preaching to others, I'm also preaching to myself. I do not have it all together and still get frustrated with people. But I pray that God will keep this revelation at the forefront of my understanding, even if it's through a silly phrase.
I challenge you to be willing for God to use you, to move through you. Be willing to freaking stand in the gap.
